Honorable Mention!

The genre's leading Professor of Zombology, great editor and all-around sadistic tease Kim Paffenroth FINALLY told me the big news!

From his blog (http://gotld.blogspot.com/):

*****
A total of FIVE of the twenty stories in History Is Dead have been named as "Honorable Mention" in this year's 21st Annual Year's Best Fantasy and Horror:

Jenny Ashford, "The Anatomy Lesson"
Doug Hutcheson, "The Travellin' Show"
Carole Lanham, "The Moribund Room"
Joe McKinney, "Starvation Army"
Christine Morgan, "The Barrow Maid"

The cover art was also singled out for praise in the "Summation" part at the beginning of the book.

Congratulations! And special congratulations to Christine, who endured months of me teasing her that I had a big announcement for her but couldn't tell her what it was!

How awesome is that? Pretty damn awesome if I dare say! Way to go, Jenny, Doug, Carole, Joe, and me!!! And Doc K-Paff as well, who put together such a kickass project in the first place! Huge gratitude for Ellen Datlow, who deemed us worthy of the mention!

And way to go, Sveinthor and Hildirid! That story was one that made me fall in love with the craft of writing all over again, inspired me to want to tackle an entire historical horror novel in the next couple years, and just generally reminded me why it is that I do this.
